Welcome
to the AUTO 66 CLUB. We are based in Scarborough, situated on the East Coast of Yorkshire,
England. Our annual programme consists of motorcycle Road Race meetings, Speed Hill Climbs for both motor cycle and car competitors and
Sprint events. Our main circuits are Elvington Park near York and the famous Oliver’s Mount road race circuit at Scarborough.
In 2004 the Club returned to Cadwell Park
in Lincolnshire where they ran two
successful race meetings. For 2005 we have
three race meetings scheduled for Cadwell
and a Sprint meeting for cars and bikes,
which will round off the Yorkshire Speed
Hill Climb & Sprint Championship. The Clubs main events each year are the Olivers Mount meetings, these include a Spring Festival of Speed traditionally run over the May Bank Holiday Weekend, on the Saturday and Sunday competitors with motorcycles, sidecars and cars take part in the National Hill Climb Championships.
Monday is the turn of the Motorcycle Road Race fraternity. This event caters for all capacity of solo machines and Formula II Sidecars. In
2005 the Scarborough International Bike
Week will take place from 26th June and
includes lots of Sprints, Hill Climbs and
the popular Breakfast Runs with the Cock o the North Road
Races rounding off the week on 1st, 2nd
& 3rd July includes a huge
Classic Festival over the three days. The jewel in the crown, the International Gold Cup Road Races, takes place
September 17th & 18th. The backbone of the Club is the Clubmans road racing, catering for all capacity of machine and rider. A number of Championships are included in the calendar running from the March to the end of October on the clubs own
circuit at Elvington Park, nr York and, of
course, Cadwell Park. Throughout the year
the Club organise the Yorkshire Speed Hill
Climb & Sprint Championships, which
run over 12 rounds, as well as Oliver's
Mount and Elvington the Club have two very
good Hill Climb courses in Dalby Forest,
close to Scarborough. The Championship is
also run at invited events at Croft, Three
Sisters and Harewood. Our membership scheme is unique offering four options, Competition membership for riders and drivers who wish to purely compete at the sporting events, Bronze membership allows free admission to all spectator and competitor
areas for the enthusiast who likes to attend all the
Elvington events and the Hill Climbs and
Sprints at Oliver's Mount. Silver membership
is purely for members wishing to visit Olivers Mount and allows access to the paddock, normally closed to the public, and Gold membership, which combines both the above. Family membership is also available in all three categories at a reduced rate.
One-day membership is available at £10
for competitors entering a single event. All members
are kept up to date with the quarterly Clubmans
News, giving information on the Clubs
activities.
In 2004 the Club returned to Cadwell Park.
Two very successful road race meetings
were run incorporating all three circuits
- Woodlands, Club and National, which were
very well received by competitors who had
not previously had the opportunity to ride
each circuit. Also during the year the
Club was involved in the organisation of a
Vintage Car Sprint at Elvington, the event
formed part of the Vintage Sports Car
Club's 70th Anniversary celebrations,
which was based at Harrogate. For the
first time International BikeWeek hosted
the Classic Road Race Festival, which
included rounds of the International
Historical Race Organisation's
championship and the British based
Lansdowne Trophy Series. It was also the
year the outright lap record was broken at
Oliver's Mount. The record had been held
by Philip McCallen since 1994 and everyone
believed this would never be broken. But,
in 2004 the long standing record was
shattered by Guy Martin, who also took a
number of class records during the
meeting.
